The Michigan Fancy Rat Association was established in January of 2004. It is a Michigan based public resource listing. No person, group, club, or organization are in affiliation with the Michigan Fancy Rat Association. The Michigan Fancy Rat Association focuses on educating the public about what great pets fancy rats are and providing fun and informational activities to other fancy rat lovers, usually done completely online. This mission is being accomplished by supplying the Michigan public with the best possible human and web related resources available, that pertain to pet fancy rats.
The Michigan Fancy Rat Association is not a club based organization. It is an organization trying to unify and supply valuable resources to the rest of the rat community. The Michigan Fancy Rat Association is focusing more on the resources available throughout Michigan, but will attempt to include some high quality resources from all over the country. The Michigan Fancy Rat Association wishes to be an educational and social "avenue," (a means to get results), for the fancy rat community. The Michigan Fancy Rat Association does not have any interest in political issues pertaining to the fancy.
The Michigan Fancy Rat Association does not function using Bylaws or a Code of Ethics. We trust everyone, to make responsible choices, until they give us a reason not to do so. Unless someone is doing something illegal, the Michigan Fancy Rat Association does not "police" anyone in regards to how they care for their pet rats. We have a "live and let live" attitude.
Everyone is welcome to use the resources listed on our web site. Anyone is welcome to submit items of value pertaining to the world of pet rats,and have them listed on this web site. Anyone may participate in our activities. Everyone is welcome, as long they are a law abiding citizen.
If you find your name listed as a resource on this web site, it does not mean you are a member of the Michigan Fancy Rat Association. It does not mean you are affiliated with us, or are endorsing us. This organization lists people we think the rest of the rat community can learn from, or benefit from being acquainted with.
Fancy rat lovers are a unique group of individuals and should join and bond together to spread the word on how great they really are and not get tangled up in all the political "goo" of what is best, or who is right or wrong about a particular, or controversial subject.
